A virtual summer 2021 graduate course, Interdisciplinary Methods for Social-ecological Systems Science, offered by Kara Pellowe and Heather Leslie of the University of Maine
Dear colleagues, I am excited to share with you a virtual summer 2021 graduate course, Interdisciplinary Methods for Social-ecological Systems Science, that I will be teaching alongside Dr. Heather Leslie of the University of Maine. The course was very popular last year and we are excited to offer it again! The course is offered through the University of Maine, but we are keen to attract students from universities outside the U.S. and with diverse research interests. If you know of any students who would be great applicants for the course, please forward this information to them and encourage them to reach out to me (kara.pellowe@maine.edu/kara.pellowe@su.se) or Heather (heather.leslie@maine.edu) This virtual 2-credit course will weekly for 12 weeks starting May 18th, and will cover interdisciplinary methods for designing and carrying out studies of coastal social-ecological systems (SESs) that tackle applied sustainability challenges. Students will engage in hands-on learning of field methods in ecology and sociology, and will learn to design field studies rooted in SES theory. Students will also receive support throughout the course as they design their own independent SES research. The course page and application form can be found here: https://dmc.umaine.edu/education/workshops-courses/social-ecological-systems/ Please feel free to share this announcement with your networks broadly. Thank you!
