The specific position attached for the NRI is in Climate-related disasters and community resilience. People working on wildfires and community resilience or a broader all hazards approach as regards building community resilience would be a good fit. The University of Manitoba (Winnipeg, Manitoba) has been (notionally) allocated up to $8 million (each of 8 Research Chairs $500,000 – 1 million) per year under this program. The program description is attached. The weblink of the program is: https://www.canada.ca/en/impact-plus-chairs/program-details/competition/2026/apply.html The positions under the program will indeed be very competitive. First within our faculty (Clayton H. Riddell Faculty of Environment, Earth, and Resources); then within the University of Manitoba, and then nationally. It is an opportunity for established scholar but who would be willing to make an 8 year commitment with opportunity for a four year extension. https://www.canada.ca/en/impact-plus-chairs/program-details/competition/2026/apply.html
