The gist of our staff meeting
1. Victor Galaz Rodriguez victor.galaz@su.se presented a new paper to be published in Nature Machine Intelligence (currently in review) about the emerging field of using AI in sustainability efforts. It’s fascinating, but what do we actually know? 2. Luigi Piemontese luigi.piemontese@su.se announced the plans for a workshop on archetype analysis in sustainability research which will take place digitally and at the SRC early February 2020. A collaboration with University of Bern, Humboldt University Berlin and others. 3. Masters student Chris Vrettos chrisvrett@gmail.com together with Marios Iacovides from University of Oxford presented a new paper looking at the connections between market dominance, social injustice and environmental degradation: https://papers.ssrn.com/sol3/papers.cfm?abstract_id=3699416 4. Owen Gaffney (owen.gaffney@su.se) Steven Lade <steven.lade@su.se>; Juan Rocha Gordo juan.rocha@su.se provided updates on their involvement in https://globalcommonsalliance.org/ and https://earthcommission.org/ with several interesting events and activities lined up from next week onwards, including https://countdown.ted.com/ 5. Miriam Huitric miriam.huitric@su.se informed that as a precaution, teaching has moved online for all students. She also reminded everybody about the areas of our office where students have access, and, above all, that it’s time to let her know if you are interested in taking on a student as an intern for 4-5 weeks next May.
