1. Håkan Carlsson from Gothenburg University presented a project that looks to define what is sustainable development research. Victor Galaz and Andrew Merrie introduced possible overlaps and research opportunities connected to the emerging field of AI. Ana Paula Aguiar anapaula.aguiar@su.se provided an important update on the latest numbers on the deforestation in the Amazon. 4. Romina Martin romina.martin@su.se introduced a new course at Stockholm University called Climate Change Solutions. It is a “faculty-bridging hybrid course at Stockholm University (in collaboration with Univ California) with focus on actions/solutions across scales to reach climate neutrality – a sustainable society.” 5. Ellika Hermansson Török (ellika.hermansson.torok@su.se) and Julie Goodness julie.goodness@su.se reported back from an ICLEI/Swedbio walking workshop on urban tinkering in Kisumu, Kenya. Based on research conducted by Thomas Elmqvist et al (https://www.stockholmresilience.org/research/research-news/2018-10-04-tinker-tailor-urban-future.html) and the use of photovoice as a method to capture local expressions of wellbeing. Per Olsson per.olsson@su.se summed up the first year of the Transformation Programme. 7. Michele-Lee Moore michelelee.moore@su.se and Eva Brattander eva.brattander@su.se presented the key parts of GRAID’s 2018 annual report to Sida, plus insights into relevant monitoring & evaluation processes. 8. Jennifer Hinton jennifer.hinton@su.se and David Collste david.collste@su.se introduced the Wellbeing Economy Alliance; who’s behind it, recent publications and why green growth thinking is dead. 9. Pernilla Malmer pernilla.malmer@su.se provided an update on the CBD post 2020 process, its partners, setup and progress 10. PhD student Anna Woodhead anna.woodhead@lancaster.ac.uk introduced herself and her research focus on changes in ecosystem services. She is here this week so contact her if interested. 11. Line Gordon line.gordon@su.se provided an update from the leadership regarding the development of a new vision and mission statement for the centre, and possible changes to the current themes & streams structure. Input is welcome! Other updates: Marika Haeggman marika.haeggman@stockholmresilience.su.se is back from parental leave (hurray!). She works in the comms group and will focus on writing science news and features on SRC researchers. She can also help update your staff picture and profile so get on her BFF list! New communications intern: please welcome Kristina Humphreys to the SRC comms group. She is a first year student of the Master Programme in Sustainable Development, a joint programme between Uppsala University and SLU. Kristina will start on Thursday 5 September and stay with us until approx. the end of the year. Her primary task will be to write news articles. Romina Martin romina.martin@su.se: Brown Bag Lunch, 'ResearcherDesk" - how can researchers support Friday4Future?, 12th September, 12.15, in the lobby. Toya Westberg, a former teacher, will present how she created and coordinated the Researcher Desk in Stockholm (see what it is attached) and how it is spreading in Europe with several activities this year over summer. Toya is in continuous exchange with Friday4Future pupils in Stockholm to run and support public events. We will discuss together opportunities and formats how we can support street and school lectures on upcoming dates, and particularly how researchers support the next global climate strike 20th September.
