The gist of our Monday meeting
1. L. Jamila Haider jamila.haider@su.se presented a new paper on the effects of development interventions from the Pamir Mountains. Oindrila Basu, visiting from Jadavpur University in Kolkata, introduced us to ecosystem Services and livelihoods in the Indian Sundarbans. 3. Following up on Basu’s talk, Tim Daw tim.daw@su.se and Radhika Gupta radhika.gupta@su.se provided updates and shared their reflections on the SDGDeltas project based in the Sundarbans Biosphere Reserve, India 4. Garry Peterson garry.peterson@su.se presented the ongoing efforts to revitalize the Resilience Alliance and changes to its board. Related to this: Ecology & Society is looking for a new editor, preferably a female to accompany Marco Janssen who is the new Editor in Chief. Interested or know anyone? Contact Garry. 5. David Collste presented his new paper on harvesting synergy from SDG interactions. Patrik Henriksson, patrik.henriksson@beijer.kva.se offered a qiuck overview of the opportunities that come with the MoU between the SRC and WorldFish. Exciting researcher opportunities! 7. Turns out there is more than one cloud geek at the centre: Peter Sogaard Jorgensen peter.sogaard.jorgensen@su.se has teamed up with Tim DuBois tim.dubois@su.se to become “cloud hunters” and present some weekly fun facts about clouds. And beautiful pictures. They’ll be back. 8. Speaking of being back, Michelle Dyner Michellejdyer@gmail.com is back at the centre on a visit. Working for the Great Barrier Reef Marine Park Authority she is keen on working with SRC again on a project. She will be here this week if you are interested.
