Seeking a more sustainable smartphone - Experiences/advice/ideas wanted...

After a surpise canoe exit, i need a new phone. SU procurement doesn't support Fairphone and gives no info on sustainability criteria. Anyone with experience of Fairphone or reconditioned phone for work?/

Sustainability/ethics reviews on smartphones all point to: - don't change your phone - buy a reconditioned phone - Fairphone are the stand-out performers for sustainability and ethical sourcing etc But, Tobias has explained that the University doesn't support Fairphone for security reasons (like they don't support Box shortcut public links- :-/ ). Thinking of ordering my own Fairphone 3 - would be great to hear any experiences of using Fairphone for work... Anyone with ideas or energy to try to disrupt the rigidity of this system? - Is it really impossible for us to use Fairphones? - Could we be offered and encouraged to take reconditioned phones (and other electronics)? - Can the procurement system be less encouraging of rampant smartphone consumption - "here's the list (with no sustainability criteria), spend up to 3.5K on a new phone...".
