McGill University is looking for a Research Coordinator in Sustainability Science

Primary Responsibilities: Reporting to the McGill Sustainability Systems Initiative (MSSI) Program Director and working with the three MSSI Research Theme co-leads Communicate and disseminate information between the research themes and with MSSI central (request and gather data, synthesize annual and other reports, communicate progress across groups); Identify synergies among research themes. Assist with implementing strategies to maximize synergies; Use expertise and scholarly background to advance MSSI research themes and break new ground. Provide project management support for the MSSI central and the research themes paperwork (track MSSI and research theme budgets, prepare paperwork for graduate students and post-doc hiring etc.) Plan content, schedule and coordinate meetings within and between research groups and for MSSI central; Administer research theme budgets, provide regular updates to team leads and assist in budget management; Write updates for MSSI website and ensure website is up-to-date, write communications for website, Twitter account, newsletter and MSSI blog. Coordinate production of bimonthly MSSI newsletter (solicit and write articles, oversee collation of information and newsletter production); Plan events for MSSI Central and research themes: coordinate meetings and seminars (engage with potential speakers and organize logistics for visits including hotel booking, itinerary planning, prepare expense reports, reserve event space, audio-visual and catering, event advertisement). Create presentations for conferences, seminars and workshops based on MSSI research themes Education/Experience: Master's degree related to sustainability, preferably in Natural Sciences; Experience in project organization and management, preferably in an academic setting; Experience in scientific and online media communication, report writing; Experience in budget management. Other Qualifying Skills and/or Abilities: Organised and motivated with a positive attitude; Ability to work under stress and to tight deadlines, flexibility; Task-driven and detail-oriented; Excellent interpersonal skills; Strong communication skills (written, oral).
