Important reminder!

Please don't forget to check research applications with your Deputy

Dear colleagues, here's a gentle reminder before approaching application deadlines (e.g. Formas 15/8). ALL research applications need to be cleared in advance with your respective Deputy Science Director (i.e. Line, Henrik, or Victor). This is a way for us to keep track of the number of applications, possible new staff and their research focus, and to provide the best support possible to your work. Our intention is not to micro-manage your research, but to make sure that we all have a clear research direction.

Important note: many of us (incl. DSDs and admin staff) will be on holidays in July and August. PLEASE make sure to send information about your planned application with this in mind!

Additional important information:

* DSDs need information about your planned application at least 7 days in advance (in normal cases, note my previous comment about summer holidays). We need to know the research content, individuals involved in the application and at what %, relationship to existing research themes/streams, rough budget, and time plan. No need for a long document, 1/2-1 page is enough. If anything is unclear, we will get in touch with you a.s.a.p.

* If you are applying for funding that involves the recruitment of a Ph.D. Student, the person to be recruited can not be decided in advance (nor mentioned with name in the application). PhD Student recruitment is an open process, and the candidates are officially accepted by our Board, after discussion in the supervisory committee.

* Please make sure that our OH costs are covered in full. If SRC needs to contribute in kind in some form, this must be cleared with one of the DSDs with ample time in advance.

* Adm support: if you need help with putting together a budget, please contact Emina and her team as soon as possible. They need to have your draft budgets at least 5 working days before deadline (again, remember summer holidays) to make sure everything is correct.

Hope this is helpful for everyone! Good luck with your applications!

Best regards,

Line, Henrik and Victor
