Important for research using personal data

Dear all, Here are two issues that may be of your interest regarding data management from the SRC research ethics subcommittee. This is especially important for all of you that are using or handling personal data in some way (e.g. collecting, storing and/or processing names, email addresses, videos, recordings; conducting interviews). 1. From the Office for Research, Engagement and Innovation Services: “Important information for researchers transferring personal data to the US: A judgement by the European Court in July severely limits the possibilities to transfer personal data to the US. It is therefore advisable to avoid or limit such transfers as far as possible, and important to ensure that all ongoing or planned transfers of personal data to the US meet legal requirements." I would like to invite you to contribute to build and synthesize the knowledge at SRC about how to deal with data management issues and the associated legal (GDPR) and ethical implications. There are usually many questions arising when filling the SRC ethics review form, so I created a collaborative document where you can add your insights, learnings and questions about data management.
