More info: https://loop.stockholmresilience.su.se/administration/finance/ General routines at Stockholm Resilience Centre (SRC) when applying for research funding To submit a proposal from SRC you need approval from your closest manager, and budget approval from a financial controller. This needs to be done well in advance to the proposal deadline. The SRC Director can decline signing proposals that has not kept the timeline. Roles of the closest manager, the director and the financial controllers The closest manager decides whether you can submit the project, considering how it fits SRC and other overall circumstances. The closest manager also makes decision (in dissuasion with the Director) on whether SRC can support potential co-funding or other in-kind contributions. A lower OH than normal is such an in-kind contribution. The financial controller can help with budget related questions and support. However, for most proposals, the researcher submitting the proposal should just use the budget template, available on the Loop, to develop the budget. The researcher should seek strategic budgetary advice (e.g. on how much to budget for different activities) from research peers. For more complicated budgetary processes (e.g. large proposals with multiple partners, and EU-funding) do seek help along the way from the financial controllers, and flag the need well in advance. A financial controller should always check the budget before submission. The Director/Deputy Director signs proposals after submission and will only do so if the closest manager and financial controllers have said ok to research plan and budget. Office for Research, Engagement and Innovation Services (REIS) is a central support that provide advice on application strategies, possible financiers, current calls and research applications, as well as reviewing budgets based on the funding requirements. Timeline Four weeks before submission deadline: Contact the financial controllers to let them know that you intend to submit a proposal, and the type of help you expect that you will need. Two weeks before submission deadline: The project application, including a budget, should be in such condition that it can be presented to the closest manager for a decision to “go ahead”. Any co-financing on SRC behalf should be clearly documented in the presentation to the manager.
