Funders’ expectations on MEL and research impact Peer-to-peer learning session at the SRC Aim: This session aims to provide SRC staff with a platform to informally exchange knowledge and experiences on navigating various funders’ expectations on MEL (monitoring, evaluation and learning), as well as research impact. The discussion might help to identify the overlapping and differing requirements and contribute to the SRC MEL and research impact handbook. Format: The peer-to-peer learning format is chosen based on preferences expressed in the MEL survey (before summer 2026). Other desired formats, such as practical trainings, BBL with external guests, might be used for future gatherings. Agenda (preliminary) 12:00 - 12:10 intro to the session, SRC funders’ & project landscape 12:10 – 12:30 2-3 case examples by the SRC staff on funder requirements: (e.g. Mistra, Horizon Europe, Formas, mixed, other) 12:30 – 12:50 Discussion, peer-to-peer exchange on the following topics: - Navigating funders’ expectations on: o MEL plans o Research impact & theory of change - How to balance MEL & research impact ambitions with the size of the funding? - What are the needs for a joint knowledge bank, templates, etc in this field? 12:50 – 13:00 final reflections and requests for the upcoming sessions Target groups: Researchers or other staff who are: - actively leading or contributing to applications to different funders, interested in learning from each other; - new or unfamiliar with application processes and interested in learning more about funders’ expectations.
