The Teachers’ Board

The SRC Teachers’ Board is a forum for all teachers at the SRC. 

 

The board’s roles include:

1. Provide recommendations to the SRC Board on: 

·       RRS decisions: PhD applicant selection (see , Lic and PhD defences. 

·       Education decisions that are taken at the SRC Board level.

2. Providing information on changes that affect education at the SRC/ BIG.

3. Take decisions on teaching issues for existing and ongoing courses, and on the development of procedures for the revising/designing courses and programmes.

4. Create a collegial support and forum for:

·       exchanging teaching experiences, 

·       pedagogic development.

Meetings:

NEXT MEETING: 21st February. 

Deadline for submitting any material to be discussed is 1 week before the meeting. 

All members: Twice a year - May and December. 

Additional meetings will called, or time allocated in conjunction with scheduled meetings, as needed, and specific members will be called to these meetings. For example: 

·       Recommendations to the SRC Board are needed - the Teachers’ Board will be convened at least 1 week before SRC Board meetings (Feb, May, Sept, Dec).

·       SERSD applicant selection and ranking (March)

·       SERSD programråd (May and October: Course and module leaders, Course administrator, programme director, BIG director of studies – Jessica Slove Davidson, SERSD student representative).

 

Members:

  • Head of subject, Deputy director of Transdisciplinarity, Strategic advisor transdisciplinary education, Directors of Studies, Education Administrator
  • All course and module leaders of all SRC courses:

·       Undergraduate, graduate (Master’s) levels,

·       Doctoral level

·       Post-doc Academy 

·       Commissioned courses.

  • 2 Student representatives: one from SERSD and one from the Research School.

2)    Approving PhD candidates to be recommended to the SRC Board:

The recruitment procedure is detailed in the PhD handbook:

 

Head of recruitment – provides RRS Director of Studies with a Box link at least 1 week before the Teachers’ Board with following documents: all candidates’ application documents; overview of the assessment of all candidates; motivated assessment for the top 2-3 candidates; and the final candidate selection which should include: the project name, funding body, confirmation that the funding covers the full length of the PhD and a motivation for the recommended candidate that compares the top candidates and makes explicit why one is better suited to the call than the other(s).


The RRS Director of Studies enters the link to the meeting Agenda on Box.   


The Teachers’ Board’s role is to provide an assessment and ranking of the top 2-3 candidates based on the documents provided as well as a discussion with the head of recruitment.
