I have forefronted a more systemic approach to using green infrastructure as a strategic asset in urban and regional planning. I have contributed to a more nuanced understanding of ecosystem services and their benefits as emergent outcomes of human-nature relations. I investigate how people make sense and use of different landscapes, and the outcomes this has for ecosystem dynamics and biodiversity. With landscape multi-functionality as a lead word, me and my team are studying ecosystem-based climate adaptation, biodiversity conservation and outdoors recreation, often through inter- or transdisciplinary study designs. I have extensive experience of leading research, from national to inter-national (e.g. RCF-funded MUST – STN, Biodiversa URBeS, ENABLE, ENVISION and RECONNECT, FP7 GREEN SURGE, Horizon Europe ALFAwetlands and UNP+, NordForsk funded SMARTer Greener Cities and several projects funded by Swedish Formas and VR) and have been awarded for my writing on resilience and transformation, as well as my academic leadership (Biodiversa URBES and ENABLE).
